There’s more Premier League action this weekend, with a host of fixtures to look forward to. Last time out, we saw Manchester City suffer their first loss of the season, while Arsenal continued to prove their form is no fluke. In the biggest game of this weekend, Chelsea host Manchester United in a game that will surely impact the top 4 race.

Nottingham Forest’s return to the Premier League for the first time this century has been far from a fairytale, as nine consecutive winless league matches have left them firmly embedded in the relegation zone.
In today’s times, it is Liverpool fans who’ll be the ones smiling, after a pair of 1-0 wins over Manchester City and West Ham secured their first three-game winning streak of the season to move them up to seventh. Those performances abruptly put an end to two alarming trends for Jürgen Klopp’s men. Not only have they now secured successive clean sheets for the first time this season, but also scored first after doing so only once in their first eight league matches.

This fixture last season delivered one of Goodison Park’s most memorable nights as Everton came back from 2-0 down at half-time to win 3-2 and secure their Premier League survival. They could do with another game to remember here as the Toffees aim to steer clear of the relegation zone again and halt a three-game losing run.
Midtable Crystal Palace will arrive on Merseyside full of confidence after losing just one of their last six league outings, and even that came via a last-minute defeat against Chelsea.

It’s been a topsy-turvy few days for Manchester City who lost their Premier League unbeaten record this season after a contentious 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, only to then be named Club of the Year at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Manager Pep Guardiola must now focus his side on avoiding two consecutive league defeats for the first time since December 2018 in order to keep the pressure on league leaders Arsenal.
Brighton are struggling to get used to life without Graham Potter, but off-field matters dominated Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest as the club paid tribute to midfielder Enock Mwepu after he was forced to retire with a hereditary heart condition. New manager Roberto De Zerbi is still seeking a first win since taking charge and the Seagulls have now taken a worrying 54 shots on goal since their previous goal.

Two of the Premier League’s most iconic clubs collide at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Chelsea and Manchester United accounting for 18 of the 30 Premier League titles on offer since the competition’s inception in 1992. Both are now embarking on journeys under new managers, with Blues boss Graham Potter unbeaten in his first seven outings since switching allegiances from Brighton. Having conceded just twice since Thomas Tuchel was axed, Chelsea have a water-tight defence to thank for that up-turn in form.
A resurgent Man Utd look primed to capitalize on any tiredness within the Chelsea camp after putting in their “best team performance so far” under Erik ten Hag’s leadership to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, also on Wednesday. Since losing his first two games in charge, the Dutchman has overseen a run of just one defeat from their last eight league games, and United could overtake their hosts with a victory here and move into the top 4 in the process.

A 3-0 loss to Fulham was the final nail in the coffin as Steven Gerrard got his marching orders after overseeing a woeful start to the season. Languishing in the relegation zone, Villa only have two wins all season and will face yet another stern test in the form of Brentford, with the Bees likely aiming to compound their hosts’ woes.

The alarm bells are starting to ring at Elland Road and a 2-0 defeat to Leicester City last time out has put Jesse Marsch on a tightrope. Since claiming a shock victory against Chelsea in August, the Whites are yet to win in seven consecutive league outings, losing five of them in that time and also flirting around the relegation zone.
It is a different story for Fulham, who have somewhat impressed this season and have shown they will be no pushovers at all. The Cottagers are currently in the top half and their performances have shown they have all it takes to remain there come the end of the campaign.

If Arsenal are the team to beat at the moment and you would be wrong to say they are not genuine title contenders at this point. The Gunners sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League and continue to impress on all fronts. A 3-1 defeat to Manchester United is the only blip in their campaign, having won 10 out of 11 games across all competitions.
Arsenal have kept more clean sheets (4) and conceded fewer goals (3) away from home than any other side in the Premier League this season. They’ve won four of their five league games on the road so far this season, taking them 10 games to reach four away wins last term.
Southampton obviously have a tough task on their hands to get anything out of this game but at least have some new-found confidence after returning to winning ways against Bournemouth in midweek, prior to five league outings without a win.

Leicester City have struggled all season and their second win of the campaign against Leeds did not take them out of the relegation zone. Poetically, both of their wins this term have come against fellow struggling sides and that must be good timing for Brendan Rodgers and company as they take on Wolves, who are just a point and a spot ahead of their visitors.
A win for the Foxes will take them out of the relegation zone for the first time since the opening weekend and they will fancy their chances at making that happen.

Tottenham’s 2-0 midweek loss at Old Trafford cast the first shreds of doubt around their chances of securing back-to-back top-four Premier League finishes. Yet even after that defeat, Spurs still have a four-point cushion over their 5th-placed conquerors Manchester United, and with Antonio Conte’s men now targeting an 11th straight competitive home win, they can clearly dominate in front of their own fans.
On the path of Newcastle United, they wouldn’t have quickly forgotten the 5-1 drubbing they suffered here back in April, but they are a different entity now, finally showing the first signs of delivering on the excitement surrounding them. A hard-fought 1-0 victory over Everton on Wednesday night made it six games unbeaten for the Magpies, consolidating their place in the top 6 in their push to appear in European competition for the first time since 2012/13.

An open game is on the cards here as both sides suffered 1-0 defeats respectively in their previous outing. A tally of 23 goals conceded so far means only Leicester City have conceded more than Bournemouth this term, though a bulk of that came in their 9-0 defeat to Liverpool.
West Ham would have been hoping to capitalize on that but nine goals scored so far also leaves them as one of the lowest-scoring sides in the league so far. A win for either side could see the winner move to the top half and that should be some motivation to come out guns blazing.
