Tottenham vs Chelsea Predictions: Spurs to win tussle and take all three points
England, Premier League, Monday, November 6th 20:00 (UK)
Ange Postecoglou has had a storming start to his Premier League career, with Spurs sitting top of the table and yet to lose. The same can’t be said for Mauricio Pochettino, whose expensively assembled squad lingers in 11th, fresh off a 2-0 home defeat to Brentford.
In Spurs’ new gaffer, Tottenham have one of the most exciting managers in England. The 58-year-old has had a unique footballing journey to end up in North London, managing in Australia, Greece, Japan, and Scotland before being appointed Spurs manager in the summer.
Under his management, Tottenham have won eight of their opening ten games, with draws at rivals Arsenal and away at Brentford the only results preventing a perfect league record.
In front of their own fans, Spurs boast a 100% record, winning all four of their home games, scoring eight goals in four games, and scoring two in each victory. Despite the sale of club captain and legend Harry Kane in the summer to Bayern Munich, the Spurs front line has been in scintillating form, with Heung-Min-Son scoring eight goals and James Maddison boasting eight goal contributions in 10 starts.
Chelsea are still suffering from the hangover from last season, where they finished 12th. The Blues currently sit in 11th, with only 12 points under their belt. The 0-2 loss at home to fellow West Londoners epitomised Chelsea’s recent struggles.
Despite an abundance of summer signings, Pochettino has yet to gel his team, with Chelsea looking disoriented and lacking chemistry. They’ve already suffered shock losses to Brentford, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa this season, so will be dreading their trip to rivals Tottenham.
With the contrasting starts to the season for both sides and the fact Tottenham have already beaten Liverpool and Manchester United at home, their price of 2.10 to beat Chelsea presents value in my eyes.
BETSiE, the main driver of all things data on bettingexpert, projects a Tottenham win at a 41.7% likelihood, whilst Chelsea’s 33.8% probability of a win lags behind.

Tottenham vs Chelsea Tips: Throw-in caution to the wind in the capital
After having success in tipping both teams’ throw-ins in the Newcastle vs Borussia Dortmund, I am back in the same market.
This season, Tottenham have hit 16, 18, 17, 31, 11, 23, 12, 20, 29, 15, and 21 throw-ins for an average of 19.36 throws per game. Last season, Celtic boasted high throw-in numbers under Ange Postecolgu. In the Champions League, they averaged 19.33 throw-ins per game, averaging 26.66 throw-ins in the six games against Rangers last season.
This shows that in big games, Postecoglou’s sides tend to get more throw-ins than average. That trend has continued this campaign, with Tottenham hitting 20 throws against Liverpool, 17 at the Emirates vs Arsenal, and 18 against Manchester United. In these games, they also conceded 23, 17, and 18, respectively. This season, Tottenham have conceded 21,22,21,23,17,11,22,25,23,18,20 throw-ins for an average of 20.27 per game.
Chelsea have hit 23, 16, 13, 24, 26, 18, 18, 26, 17, 18, 18, and 27 throws this season for an average of 20.33 per game. Like Tottenham, they get good numbers in games against ‘big’ teams, taking 23 throws against Liverpool, 18 against Aston Villa, 26 against Brighton, and 18 against Arsenal.
With both teams averaging high throw-in numbers, I can see plenty on Monday night in a frantic game.

Tottenham vs Chelsea Team News: Injuries continue to mount up for Chelsea
Tottenham have a few injuries to contend with, as Ryan Sessengnon, Manor Solomon, and Ivan Perisic are still injured. Left-back Destiny Udogie has been in fantastic form for Spurs this season but had to miss the victory over Crystal Palace due to a minor injury. It is hoped he is fit for the visit of Chelsea.
Chelsea have certainly been dealt a bad hand with injuries, but one positive is the return of captain Reece James. Armando Broja, Ben Chillwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Christopher Nkunku, Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Romeo Lavia, Trevoh Chalobah, and Wesley Fofana were missing from the defeat to Brentford with injuries. However, the injuries to Mudryk and Fernandez are described as minor, and it is hoped they are back fit.
If Fernandez does come back into the squad, it will likely push Connor Gallagher further forward, with the academy graduate playing well more advanced.
Tottenham vs Chelsea OPTA Stats: Five in a row for Spurs?
- Only Manchester United (15) have won more Premier League away games against Tottenham than Chelsea (14), while the Blues have scored more away goals against Spurs in the competition than any other side (51).
- Spurs have won their last four Premier League games, last winning five in a row in December 2018 when their manager was Mauricio Pochettino. On home soil, they’ve won all four games so far this season, with manager Ange Postecoglou looking to become the first Premier League manager to win his first five home games in the competition since Craig Shakespeare in May 2017 for Leicester City.
- Since Chelsea’s first game after the departure of manager Graham Potter (April 4th vs Liverpool), the Blues have won the fewest games of any ever-present Premier League side (4) and only Bournemouth have won as few points as they have (both 18).
- Only Erling Haaland (11) has scored more Premier League goals this season than Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min (8). He has also scored in each of his last three London derby appearances, scoring two against Arsenal and one each against Fulham and Crystal Palace.
- Chelsea have given more minutes to players aged 21 or younger in the Premier League than any other side this season (2,941). Against Brentford, Deivid Washington became the ninth different player aged 21 or younger to make their first Premier League appearance for Chelsea this season (Ugochukwu, Gusto, Colwill, Maatsen, Burstow, Caicedo, Palmer, Matos & Washington), the most debuts awarded by a team to players 21 or younger in the opening 10 games of a season in Premier League history.
