Tottenham vs Liverpool occupies the Saturday night slot in the Premier League, so, of course, we have bet builder tips for the big game courtesy of Scott Thornton.
Spurs had to settle for a draw at the Emirates last weekend, meaning they come into this one two points behind Jurgen Klopp’s side. We should be treated to some tantalising football.
We have a three-leg bet builder for the highlight of the weekend in English football.

Tottenham fans wouldn’t have been expecting such a sublime start following Harry Kane’s departure. However, Spurs have gone from strength to strength since the start of the season. They have played some scintillating attacking football, but they showed real grit to come from behind against Arsenal last weekend. That determination will serve them well against high-flying Liverpool.
Ange Postecoglou has put a much greater emphasis on attack than his predecessors. Tottenham’s matches are averaging 3.67 goals per game so far this season, the 2nd most in the Premier League. They have managed just one clean sheet in their seven competitive matches so far, and there was an element of good fortune in that, with Manchester United squandering plenty of good chances.
Liverpool have an xG of 15.11, the highest in the Premier League. Klopp’s side have scored in all of their competitive matches this season and are averaging 2.57 goals per game. Their recent matches against Spurs have also seen the net rustled plenty of times. Both teams have scored in the last six head-to-heads, with an average of 3.83 goals per encounter.
Liverpool were off the pace for much of last season, but they seem to have returned to something near their best at the start of this campaign. Jurgen Klopp has plenty of options in attack, and they will look to take the game to Tottenham on Saturday. Two teams who aren’t afraid to have a go should mean we see an end-to-end match. This can only be good for the corner count.
Tottenham’s matches so far this season have seen 11.83 corners per game. This is the fourth-highest total in the league and a significant increase on the 10.5 corners their games averaged last season. Spurs had previously adopted a counter-attacking approach in fixtures like this one. Postecoglou showed he was reluctant to do that against Arsenal. There were 15 corners in that match.
Liverpool’s matches are averaging 10.5 corners – a little less than Tottenham’s, but it is still above the required mark for this leg of the bet builder to land.
Ange Postecoglou has asked his side to be tenacious when out of possession. He demands his players press high up the pitch in order to be difficult to play against. It has resulted in Tottenham committing plenty of fouls as they adjust to the change in approach.
Spurs rank fourth for most fouls in the Premier League. Their matches have seen the second-most cards in the Premier League. Ange’s team have had 3.5 cards per game, while their opponents have been awarded 3.33. The relentless urge to attack puts the opposition under immense pressure, reflected in the amount of cards they’ve picked up. There have been at least four cards in all of their games this season.
There were five yellow cards when Liverpool last faced Tottenham. All four of Liverpool’s matches on the road this season have seen at least four cards awarded. This includes the Europa League visit to Austria to take on LASK Linz. The average amount of cards per game over the course of those away matches is five.
