Both of these sides have made huge strides towards Premier League safety in the last month. Palace’s heavily criticised decision to bring back Roy Hodgson has proven to be a masterstroke. The Eagles were rampant in his opening three matches and looked much more threatening in attack. However, they have failed to score in their last two, and safety isn’t quite guaranteed.
West Ham are three points behind Crystal Palace. The Hammers are in danger of being dragged back into the relegation mix but for now, they can watch at arm’s length. They put in a spirited display against Liverpool in their last game but came out empty-handed.
Crystal Palace’s matches at Selhurst Park this calendar year are averaging 14.44 goal kicks per game. There were 15 goal kicks in Hodgson’s first home match back in charge. With top-flight survival up for grabs, this one looks primed to for both teams to attack with intensity.
West Ham are chasing a vital three points here. They will throw everything at the home side if they fall behind and this usually translates into more goal kicks in a match. Their Premier League away matches in 2023 have seen an average of 16.14 goal kicks per game.

Brentford ended their poor run of form by winning 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in their last match. Thomas Frank’s side were competing for a place in the top six at one stage but they look set to fall short. They will be delighted with how they’ve performed in their second season in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest sit just outside of the relegation zone. Their hard run of fixtures means that many fancy them to return to the Championship after one season back in the top flight. Steve Cooper’s earned a massive three points in a shock victory over Brighton in their last match.
Morgan Gibbs-White has operated behind Taiwo Awoniyi in Forest’s recent matches. He has been a key player for his side in the second half of the season. Gibbs-White has scored in his side’s last two matches. They will need this purple patch to continue if they are to survive.
Morgan is averaging 1.9 shots per 90 minutes played in the Premier League this season. Forest’s poor run leading up to the last couple of matches saw his numbers suffer. However, he had three attempts at Anfield and two in the win over Brighton.

Manchester United folded in the second half during their midweek match against Tottenham. They stormed to a 2-0 lead but they were lacklustre after that. Erik Ten Hag’s side lacked depth and they were second-best after the substitutions. They face another tough test on Sunday as they continue their fight for a place in the top four.
Aston Villa’s recent form has been exceptional. Unai Emery has revitalised the club since being appointed. They now look likely to secure a place in the Europa League and they have an outside chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
Bruno Fernandes is a vital cog in Manchester United’s side. The Portugues midfielder was an injury worry ahead of their last match but he played the full 90 minutes and had four attempts. He has had four, five, and four shots in his last three Premier League matches.
Bruno was suspended for the meeting between these sides at Villa Park earlier this season. However, he played in United’s 4-2 win over Villa at Old Trafford in the League Cup. He scored and had seven shots in that one.

Fulham have gone off the boil since exiting the FA Cup. They are still competing for the highest-ever finish since the Premier League era began. Many felt that their players were already on the beach until their recent wins over Everton and Leeds. However, they looked toothless in their last match against Aston Villa.
Manchester City put one hand on the Premier League trophy by beating Arsenal in their last match. They put on an imperious display as they hammered their title rivals 4-1. Pep Guardiola’s team will be looking to continue their ruthless streak this weekend as they pursue an unprecedented treble.
Marco Silva’s team had just one of the 15 total shots in their last Premier League match. Aleksandar Mitrovic remains suspended for this one and the Serbian has been sorely missed. Fulham’s match with City earlier saw just 20 shots, with the London side having four of them.
Manchester City have been incredibly efficient at restricting the number of opportunities they allow their opponents to have. Their away matches in the league this season are averaging 23.6 shots per game with City contributing to 65% of those shots. City’s away matches in 2023 are averaging 21.75 shots.

Liverpool have been resurgent in recent weeks and recorded three wins on the bounce. They have failed to live up to the standards set in previous seasons under Jurgen Klopp but they still have an outside chance of making it into the Champions League places.
Tottenham earned a draw against Manchester United midweek after clawing their way back from two goals down. It’s been a tumultuous few months for Spurs but like Liverpool, they are also aiming to make it into the top four. Anfielf hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Tottenham. Their miserable record at the ground will have to chance this weekend for them to stand a chance of playing in next season’s Champions League.
Despite Liverpool’s struggles, Anfield has remained a fortress. Leeds are the only side to go to the ground and win this season. Liverpool’s opponents are asked to do a lot of defending when they come here and this is reflected in the tackle numbers. Liverpool’s opponents at Anfield in the league are averaging 19 tackles per game this season.
Ryan Mason has been tasked with galvanising the squad and they showed spirit on Thursday. They had 19 tackles against Manchester United, well above their season average of 15.97 tackles. Tottenham had 20 tackles when they came to this ground last season.
