Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Preview
England, Premier League, Sunday, May 28th, 16:30 (UK)
Roy Hodgson proved to be the perfect swoop by the Eagles. The 75-year-old has worked wonders since his arrival, managing a side that earned 17 points from a possible 27 to secure a respectable league finish.
Eberechi Eze has flourished under his new boss. Since the start of March, he’s bagged six goals in just nine appearances. Eze only scored four times in the previous 28 outings. He’ll finish as Palace’s leading scorer this campaign and will be expected to earn some end-of-season awards.
Steve Cooper will be thrilled. His side looked doomed heading into the final stages but three wins and a point from their final five matches has seen them get over the line. Their away record has been horrendous but the City Ground has proven to be a tricky venue for visiting clubs. 30 of their 37 league points have been won in Nottingham. That’s what has kept them up.
There is plenty of talent in that Forest side, the huge squad number definitely had its negatives across the campaign. Taiwo Awoniyi has bagged five in the last three, and Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White have combined with 23 goal involvements this term. Recruiting Keylor Navas and Felipe have proven to be smart pieces of business, their experience has got the team across the line.
With nothing to play for in the capital, this game should be a joyful watch. Goals are expected with over 2.5 priced at 1.61, Palace are 1.70 favourites to claim all three points whilst Forest are as big as 4.50.
The reverse fixture came back in November, Steve Cooper’s side won 1-0 on the day thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White’s close-range effort. I couldn’t put my trust in them, especially on the road given they’ve recorded just a single victory in 18 attempts. Goals would be the favoured bet for me here.

Keeping things fairly straightforward in this one, I’m expecting to see a few goals during the 90 minutes so backing either club’s leading scorers seems a decent angle given the price on offer. There’s no certainty in Eze or Awoniyi starting from the off but given their impressive form, they’d feel hard done by if they were to begin on the bench.
Palace’s number 10 has enjoyed his time under Hodgson, he’s recorded 25 shots in those nine appearances with 13 being on target. Eze has scored in back-to-back games at Selhurst Park and is most likely to be on penalty duties if his side were to be awarded one. Forest have kept just two shutouts on the road all season, I can’t see them adding another to that tally here.
Taiwo Awoniyi has bagged a goal every 147 minutes for Forest this season, all nine goals have been scored inside the box from an xG of 6.44. The Nigerian international has netted five of his side’s seven previous goals at a crucial time of the season.
The prices appeal for these two danger men to score on the final day with the double best priced at 11.0, given it’s as short as 5.00 elsewhere, we’ve got a nice bit of value here.
In a game where the goal line is set at 3.0, which is slightly odds against, backing individual players to score rather than as a team collectively looks a decent way in. With it being the final day, it’s always fun to have a little punt at a bigger price.
- Eberechi Eze Anytime Goalscorer
- Taiwo Awoniyi Anytime Goalscorer

What is a Bet Builder?
A bet builder is a type of accumulator bet focused on a single match. A traditional acca features multiple selections across different matches. These selections are combined to create one bet. If one selection loses, the whole bet loses. A bet builder is similar but each selection is placed on the same match. Similar to American prop bets, bet builders give you the chance to bet on a combination of events in a single match. Common selections include match outcome, total goals, cards, corners, and players to score.
